John Green: Author of Paper Towns, An Abundance of Katherines and Looking for Alaska
An Abundance of Katherines Looking for Alaska Paper Towns anagrams famous last words Bio and Contact

Four Things

1. It's not like I look at amazon or Barnes and Noble sales rankings every day (really! I don't! I am too busy googling myself!). But yesterday, we had a six-hour layover in Boston on our way back from Scandinavia, and I happened to glance at the Paper Towns pages at B&N and amazon.

Imagine my surprise when I saw Paper Towns ranked in the top 10 bestsellers on both sites. (Like, right up there with Stephanie Meyer!) The nerdfighters sure know how to cook up a good birthday present.

2. I was totally right about Biden. As I have said previously, I do think there's something a little bit Joe Bideny about him, but he is not without charisma. The pick could have been worse, but I would have preferred Tester. Some day, my friends. Someday we will get the 7-fingered President we deserve.

3. Sweden was fun.

4. I am 31. Here are some highlights from the magical world of birthday videos:

The made-of-adorable Natalie and Calvin send me their four-day-old sibling in the mail:

Kids look good in glasses:

A marching band gets mashed up to sing:

And many nerdfighters are apparently flutists:

A good many of them may prefer to be called flautists, seeing as it's more nerdly!

Happy birthday, John!

I just watched ALL of the Brotherhood 2.0 videos in one week. Now I'm attempting to catch up on the 2008 videos.

I know you're probably still reeling from the birthday and democratic vp nomination, but Catcher In The Rye Part II already!

Happy birthday!
I preordered Paper Towns yesterday, and I completely freaked out when I saw your sales rank. I guess I should have learned by now not to underestimate the power of nerdfighters.

Happy Birthday John Green!

I finally got my hands on Looking for Alaska [it's always out in my school library] and finished in a day. I've been watching B2.0 since April when it turned up on Scott Westerfeld's blog and I read Katherines shortly there after. But I have to say, Alaska is a masterpiece.

Sidebar:
I'm from Kentucky and when I picked up Alaska I saw that there was this big shiny sticker that said it was awarded the Bluegrass Book Award. Idk what year, but I thought that was pretty cool.

Hey, I'm the anonymous gal whoops just got back from vacationing in Maine so a little brain clogged. I spent hours on the 23rd in Login carrying around Paper Towns which I read again on the flight back to Seattle.

Oh John Green, you deserve to be up there with Stephenie Meyer. You deserve to be higher than Stephenie Meyer, because Paper Towns was absolutely postively delightful wonderous and amazing.

Happy birthday!

Happy (belated) Birthday, John!

er... since you mentioned it.. I googled you. And obviously the first thing that comes up is the whole google books thing.

According to Google Books, you co-wrote a book called The Psychology of Sexual Health. I had no idea.

Though, I suppose it could be some other John Green?

Actually, apparently you also wrote How to Draw Birds.

I'm pretty sure there is more than one John Green, now.

Especially since if there were only one John Green, it would mean that you had also written Apology for Actors, which was published in 1941.

Happy Birthday, John! In honor of your birthday, my Tae Kwon Do Nerdfighters-in-Training...Niftys...are the card about 4:40 in. But, we also decided to buy all of your books and read them together in Nerd Family harmony. Keep up the good work, you have a great brother (and SIL and wife), and enjoy your well-deserved Awesomeness ranking!

Don't worry John, us Aussie nerdfighters are already onto it, with a few Paper Towns pre-orders having already happened in book stores over here.

:D

Hope you had a great birthday!

I will say for Biden that in 1987, when I was 11 years old, I heard him speak at a picnic shelter at City Park in Iowa City, and I distinctly remember him saying he thought every high school student should take four years of English. So I'll give the man that, even though I am not crazy about him either.

And happy birthday! 31 was pretty good to me.

Yay! I'm a YA librarian and I've now pre-ordered several copies of Paper Towns for our library. If I have anything to say about it, they'll be the most popular books here!
