Awww. I'm so sad to have missed it. I left Chicago yesterday and was not so happy. I'm sure there will be lots of photos and youtube vids though.

But glad it was good!
Will it be 9 9 09 next year or what?
I feel like I've missed out on something historical.

We just got home, and I have this feeling in my heart that people in this world do actually trust. It's amazing that Amy drew such an unsuspecting crowd, all who wanted to be a part of something, which had the potential of being nothing, but turned out to be brilliantly awesome. My four year old left asking me if we fought worldstink.
Of course we did. Thank you.

While I am largely satisfied with the Nerdfighter Gathering, I do have a few points that I think should be addressed:
You have a balcony and you didn't use it. You could have pulled off a Julius Caesar address in front of that audience. If that opportunity ever comes up again, take it.
I'm also a bit disappointed that I'm shy...and that most of us who were in the room are shy...and that little was done to remedy this. While a reading and Q&A was quite entertaining, the idea of a "Nerdfighter Gathering" was changed into...I guess a "John Green lecture." Perhaps in the future, events can be more planned and have things dividing Nerdfighters into smaller, more intimate groups, such as "The (insert book title here) table" and "Twilight fangirl group." Though I can't deny that, at the end of the day, everyone is pretty effing happy with their book signed and a reading that went so far as to surpass David Sedaris's humorist essays (I don't think I will ever see a more in depth black santa discussion in my life).
I hope these suggestions that are slightly if not profoundly equivocal lead to a more unified Nerdfighteria.

By the way, I totally asked you if you and Hank are the illegitimate children of Alton Brown.

Okay, John Green. I was in Chicago from 11 AM to noon moving things from my grandfathers house on Bowler Street and I brought my books and my camera and I was all like "I don't care, I'm going to go see John Green" but I didn't. I ended up at the Rainforest Cafe at Woodfield Mall. It made me extremely sad and angry.

Please come to Sydney, eventually...

I'd love to be part of something truly brilliant such as a NerdFighter Gathering.

I'm so glad I made the drive, it was so much fun! I can't wait to see the happy dance video and Amy's video too! I missed the concert though, we couldn't find it anywhere.

It WAS amazing!

Really enjoyed hearing some from "Paper Towns!" Thanks for signing books and being awesome!

Oh, and I loved the "shape of the book" maneuvers.

I was there, too! And I also enjoyed/understood the "book shape" dances. I often tell people that books have colors.

Thanks to the public library for moving the event to a larger room. I drove my teenager to Chicago from New York without a ticket hoping to get in. Thanks to the staff, we did!

The night before the event, I had to get a John Green primer from my teen. It was awesome and so was the talk. My husband, myself and my teen talked about it all the way home to New York! (Does that make us nerd parents? :-) Glad there are great writers such as yourself writing great literature for teens and young adults. What a great message you have - thanks for adding it to the universe!

Cindy, you're officially the *coolest* nerdy parents ever!

I was glad they moved the event, too.

Props to the CPL - They did a great job of organizing and facilitating!

Librarians are flippin' sweet.

Cindy you truly are one of the most amazingly nerdlike parent I have ever heard of. That's so cool that you would do that for your child.

I believe that originally it wasn't a Nerdfighter Gathering, but actually a "John Green Lecture."
But, then again, a John Green Lecture and Nerdfighter Gathering sound pretty synonomous. As John said, a whole bunch of his life is invested in his writing, so it would make sense that Nerdfighting would a part of his lecture.

Loved that Hank was there! and Loved the adventure at the bean. as well as the concert.
A lot of people weren't able to go though, because they were unable to find it. =/
I'm very glad that I was able to find someone that was at the HWL and follow them to the concert.

That day made my world!

Thanks for being so nice and taking pictures with us.

Now the smell of that stuff at bottom of hamster cages [parsley flakes] will forever remind me of nerdfighters.
