This Friday in Chicago

I'm going to be a guest on Mark Bazer's live talk show at the Hideout, the best bar in Chicago (1354 W. Wabansia), on Friday February 6th. The show is five bucks. If you're over 21, please come*. No formal book signing or anything, but I'm happy to sign anything you happen to bring.

* I will buy one drink** for any librarian who comes. Just say, "I'm a librarian and I want my drink!"

** Provided it is, you know, cheapish.

What about library STUDENTS? ;)

Just kidding. Wish I could make it up there; it's always fun to listen to you. :)

The Hideout IS the best bar and music venue in Chicago, hands down. I love that the outside looks like you're about to be gagged and bound and shoved in a trunk. And then you walk in it's all dim-lighting and animal sculls and you're like, "Is this my Wisconsin grandparent's basement?!?"

Anyway. I will see you there. And I might have to buy YOU a drink, because you are so, you know, awesome.

Hmmm.... I really want to go to this, if only to have a drink with my favorite author. And then watch him do some sweet drunken dancing. Too bad I have work...

I wish I was still in Kansas so it would be a somewhat reasonable drive to get there! Alas, I am not. Sad day!

What if I'm a page at a library and will one day be a proper librarian? Does that count?

I still have to figure out how to get there from Ogilvie.

Can I take you up on that drink offer when you visit Australia in May?

Darn. Too bad I'm only in my second year of uni and haven't already gotten my MLIS degree (which I am planning on doing after uni) and I don't live in chicago and I'm not 21.
Shame.

what about people who work in libraries (two in my case!) but aren't librarians?

not that it matters since I sort of live... a really long distance away :P

Hmmm...I'm a bit far from Chicago. But thanks for the nod to us librarians :-)

Two reasons to wish I was in Chicago; to hear you speak and to get a free drink! Too bad I'm in another country entirely.

If only I was a librarian in Chicago over 21...

Sometimes when school gets overwhelming, I think to myself: "Why am I going through all of this expensive college to become a librarian and get payed almost nothing?" And then I get a twitter update from you that says "I WILL BUY LIBRARIANS A DRINK" and I remember. I can't wait to get into this profession because it's going to be awesome and rewarding. Also, because John Green will buy me a drink someday. :)

Aw, man, I so really want to go. (Perhaps with the above Melissa.) Though it's 5 hours away...so, maybe. And I a little wish I were a librarian now instead of a writer.

GAH. The first librarian perk after I get my first librarian job, and I live all the way up in Green Bay! If I didn't have to work (at the library) on Friday and Saturday, I'd be there. Sounds great!

You know you're competing with the opening night of the Coraline film? Green vs. Gaiman: that's a tough choice for Chicago librarians! Unfortunately I've already committed to the Gaiman outing.

ugh I live in the suburbs and it is entirely too far for me. If I didn't have to take the bus I would so be there.

Though I am not a Librarian, I would have bought YOU a drink if I could have come.
