This is one of the cutest still frames yet. And even though you e-mailed your survey out a couple of weeks ago, it is much more entertaining to get your responses via vlog.
White and Nerdy is absolutely one of my favorite songs of the year as well (as you know). But the Nerd Fighters theme song is giving Weird Al some tough competition. Can I e-mail Weird Al and tell him to watch Brotherhood 2.0? Are any of the commentors friends with Weird Al? I love Weird Al...

Absent-minded kid in a candy store. Mwahah!

And I liked the chipmunk bits.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? I've been writing poems and picture books for children, and reading lots of books (although I've still got a humongous pile I need to read, in which An Abundance of Katherines lies -- sorry, John, but I will get to it). My current WIP is a verse biography of Jane Austen. And yeah, I'm pretty sure nobody's ever done such a thing.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
Hopefully for a good long time. I like what I do.

5 Why are you doing it? Funny story, and by "funny" I mean long and tedious. I used to be a lawyer, which I liked, but my acquisition of a fine case of rheumatoid arthritis shortened that career. And rather than sit home and watch television, I decided to write children's books (on account of I like to READ children's books so much, even now).

6 What do you want to be doing?
Exactly what I'm doing. Only maybe with the added bonus of actually selling more of my work.

7 What's next in your life?
Death and taxes, not necessarily in that order.

8 How You Doin'?
Fine, actually, except now that you've asked, I confess to having a headache.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
Thus far in 2007:
Poetry (adult-ish): The Annotated Hunting of the Snark by Lewis Carroll
Poetry (kids): Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich by Adam Rex
Picture book: Henry's Freedom Box by Ellen Levine, illus. by Kadir Nelson
Nonfiction: Jane Austen: A Life by Claire Tomalin

10 Describe a perfect day?
I sleep until I wake up (no alarm), and then have a yummy breakfast of French toast. I read a book, write a poem, spend a fun afternoon on the beach (in which I do not get sand inside my suit) with my husband and kids. I have a wonderful dinner out with my husband, and an early, uninterrupted "bed" time.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
Not with a bang, but a whimper.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
Like they're too big for their own britches. My older daughter turns 14 in about 6 weeks (and goes to high school in the fall), and the younger one is already 12 and in middle school. Time is fleeting.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
If you could own a house in any country in the world other than the U.S., where would it be?
Yeesh -- tough question. Tuscany, Italy. Or maybe the Loire Valley in France. Or perhaps near Niagara Falls in Canada -- it's beautiful up there.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Bailey's Irish Cream

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
Miss Smartypants

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
The part involving an alarm clock

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Yes.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
Chocolate, if I must choose. Although back when I was on Weight Watchers, the thing I missed most was, ironically, cheese.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
Here in my house. Or maybe in a house that was in the mountains but near a beach. And also near a stream. Or at the shore. Or in one of those other countries from question 13.

20 What was your first concert?
Chicago

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
A business writing children's books and poems.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Invisibility. Time travel would confuse me far more than it did Bill and Ted, and I'd be likely to go mad.

23 What's wrong with the world?
War, hatred, prejudice, poverty, and ignorance. Probably some more stuff, but fixing poverty and ignorance would fix a lot of it.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? Attempting to write books before getting distracted by God knows what...

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
hopefully the rest of my life, without the distracted part

5 Why are you doing it?
Because I love writing and I have a short attention span

6 What do you want to be doing?
Lying on a beach somewhere would be swell, if not what I'm doing is fine

7 What's next in your life?
I'll let you know when I get there

8 How You Doin'?
Fine thanks, and you?

9 What's the best book you read this year?
Honestly...Looking For Alaska

10 Describe a perfect day?
it involves me being with my boyfriend and that possibly the end of my requirements

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
Probably will bomb each other to death

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
They're cute?

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
Why did you kidnap your best friends myspace for a day?
Simple
because I could

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Chocolate cheesecake

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
"young and in love"
but I really like the cliche "I'm not ugly, I'm visually challanged"

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
morning, the whole waking up thing

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
yes

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
chocolate, no debate

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
Ireland, its pretty and green

20 What was your first concert?
ahem...Nsync...

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
I would open a store selling only teen fiction

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
time travel, invisibilty is overrated

23 What's wrong with the world?
people...and gravity

I will always be trying, believing, striving to do what I want to do, to be better, to be hopeful.

To be happy, to keep trying.

6 What do you want to be doing?
I want to be happy and successful on my own terms.

8 How You Doin'?
I'm okay.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
As in 2007 calendar year or the past 12 months? If JUST 2007, then - reread, The Great Gatsby; new teen fiction: Cupcake by Rachel Cohn; new juvenile fiction, Reaching for Sun by Tracie Vaughn Zimmer

10 Describe a perfect day?
See above re: performing (acting, singing, dancing - being on stage or on screen) and add in my family and cat being there with me!

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
Slowly, then ...

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
I've known since I was a kid that I did not want to have any kids.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
What is your lucky number?

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
I do not know.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Yes, sir.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
California

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
Production company!
I'd also like my webdesign company to be even more successful.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Yes.

23 What's wrong with the world?
Our planet is hurting. We're damaging our ecosystem, filling our land with trash, and really wreaking havoc on the weather.

Hank, you have failed! You neglected to answer Question #5 ("Why are you doing it?"). I only noticed b/c I was interested in hearing about the genesis of your ecogeek tendencies, not because I was looking for you to fail, but now it makes me wonder - do you fail the challenge? Do you have to wax your own chin now? :)

HAHA! Julie came up with an awesome way to answer Hank's Survey! Since I didn't want to just answer with text, but I lack a video camcorder, I thought ... aha!, voice posts!

John, Hank. If you guys head over to my livejournal you'll see that Hank's survey is posted in two parts on my blog.

Enjoy!

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?

QUESTION: Is ambrozzo a made up thing for you guys? Like, it is just a thing that 'tastes like the best thing in the entire world?' but not being an actual food.?

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? In 2006 I read two John Green novels (which is the reason why I'm here..), planned an entire wedding (which ended up getting called off a few weeks ago), taught preschool level students (even though I'm student teaching to be a high school English teacher), and adopted a cat!

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing? 3.5 more months until graduation! woo!!

5 Why are you doing it? To be the reason why kids don't hate English when they start college.

6 What do you want to be doing? going on vacation.

7 What's next in your life? At this point, my life is really up in the air, but I'm okay with that.

8 How You Doin'? haha I went to a local bar tonight with a group of friends to see this amazing Led Zepplin cover band perform and it really made my night.

9 What's the best book you read this year? (...slyly looks to the left at bookshelf to try to pick one from the hundreds...) I read a lot of "third world" literature so I'm going to go with either Emecheta's "Joys of Motherhood" (which was not so joyful) or "Married to a Stranger" by Rachlin. Both I highly reccomend.

10 Describe a perfect day? A warm June day walking around the Mall in DC watching all the tourists see our nation's history for the first time in person. It's a really cool thing to do since I so often take advantage of my location.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct? Pollution.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days? I am in no way ready or mentally prepared for kids, although I like to be around them.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -) What are you most proud of this year? I am presenting an article I wrote at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research in San Francisco in April... I finally feel like I proved myself!

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like? I have absolutely no idea.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be? I honestly have no idea. I would need a list of cliche's to review before making this difficult decision.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
Hearing my alarm at 6am.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
I really liked "Among the Hidden" which was sci-fi-ish.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
I think heese because it comes in so many delicious forms and you can put it on basically anything... even chocolate.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere? Where I am now. Maryland has the best of both worlds- the beach and the mountains.

20 What was your first concert? Billy Ray Cyrus.. I was 7. My grandmother took me. wow.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be? The business would entail me reading literature, analyzing it, and people paying me to do so.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel? you know, I'm going to break the mold and say invisibility.

23 What's wrong with the world? Too much pressure. If I hear the "So what are you doing after graduation" question one more time... haha infact my roommate said that being asked that question is just as horrible as some random person asking a woman if she's pregnant. I agree.

2. Your Web page: http://www.myspace.com/magicalfairydust because I'm too lazy to run a real site anymore.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
Moving out of my childhood home. Working two part-time, uninspiring jobs so I have enough money to support myself while writing. Trying to be happy more often than I'm sad. Eating too much ice cream, and then failing to feel guilty about it.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
Until I finish my book, at which point I will promptly start crying because then comes the terrirfying next step of trying to do something with it.

5 Why are you doing it? Because it makes me happy. Or, at least, it does for the most part. I have (many of) those times when I wonder why I'm doing this to myself?

6 What do you want to be doing? In an ideal world, writing YA fiction and making a living from it.

7 What's next in your life? Finding a sixth rubber duck to bring my collection to even numbers. I have two ducks that flash you know.

8 How You Doin'? I'm doin' good baby, how you doin'? (Friends addict.)

9 What's the best book you read this year? Oh Jesus. Um, okay, because it made me uncomfortable, and yet I couldn't stop reading it, Twins by Marcy Dermansky. But, I loved Sarah Dessen's Just Listen, I couldn't put down Princess by Jean P. Sasson, and rereading Pride and Prejudice is always a highlight.

10 Describe a perfect day? I wake up at half eight to an already-cooked breakfast. I check my emails, watch a hilarious new Brotherhood 2.0 vlog, then sit and write 4,000 words without breaking a sweat. I have lunch and watch a great movie with a friend. I read all afternoon. In the evening my entire family (minus my brother's snobbish girlfriend) get together. My niece says my name for the first time. When I go to bed, I am able to fall asleep instantly.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct? Whining that we should have seen this coming.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days? Most other people's kids I can do without, (why are so many of them so spoiled, why are the parents doing that to them?) but my niece and nephew are heaven and gold, and I love them.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
What is your favourite breed of cow?
Dexters because of the tiny-ness and Guernseys because of the Dusty Springfield eye make-up. Oh man, I miss having cows :(

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
The cheesy top layer of lasagne, pasta sheet included.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
A woman unable to read maps. Or, the emotionally unstable teenager. Um, but at 20. It hit me late :)

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day? Though I hate brushing my teeth, walking into work in the morning is definitely my least favourite part of any given day.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction? I don't mind it.

18 Cheese or Chocolate? My instinct is to say chocolate, but deeper thought insists I say cheese. Cheese and pickle sandwiches! And by pickle, I mean pickle as Britain's consider it, not American pickles. Those are two different things.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere? On the farm I grew up on.

20 What was your first concert? Um...*mumbles* I haven't...been to...meh.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be? Selling compassion to mutltinationals.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel? Time Travel. I'd tell my dad how much I love him before he died.

23 What's wrong with the world? Apart from the obvious, apathy, laziness, and taking The Good Stuff for granted.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
The usual hectic schedule and some artsy things. I could go on and on, but it would require too much detail.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
I hope the hectic-ness stops soon. I never want the artsy things to end!

5 Why are you doing it?
Because I love art and am a self proclaimed artist. (And the hectic-ness isn't of choice.)

6 What do you want to be doing?
More artsy things without the demands of schedules and deadlines.

7 What's next in your life?
Sleep, eating, answering more survey questions, doing artsy things, hopefully getting somewhere with my art and doing other things that keep me alive.

8 How You Doin'?
Fine-ish. (I say that only because it's impossible to be just 'fine' when you think about it)

9 What's the best book you read this year?
Ooh...I hate that question so much...I'm really enjoy the political satire of Brave New World. Otherwise, there's a handful of awesome YA lit.

10 Describe a perfect day?
Wake up at 9 without my alarm clock, eat a light breakfast, go for a run, design or paint something, eat a leisurely lunch, surf the net for an hour or so, design or paint something else, go out with friends for the remainder of the afternoon and go out to dinner as a group, then come home to fall asleep without any insomnia.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
Probably with slow, painful, drawn out whine. There's a lot of yuppies out there now who do enjoy whining.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
I'll stick to kid-sitting my cousins.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -) What is the best eclectic city?
Chicago--hands down.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Definetely NOT better than chocolate!

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
Nothing ventured, nothing gained (or 'play it on the safe side' because I'm a little too cautious sometimes)

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
The waking up at 5:10 AM to a blaring alarm clock part.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Depends. Media things like Star Wars and Star Trek are cool. But literature wise, not very often.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
Chocolate!

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
Chicago or NYC.

20 What was your first concert?
Dixie Chicks.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
An interior design business.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Time travel. If I rip the time-space continuum, I can always go back and duct tape it, right?

23 What's wrong with the world? GWB and his cabinet.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
I started working as a youth services (kids and teens) at a public library -- my first Real Job. I also got married.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
A long time, I hope.

5 Why are you doing it?
Because I like it?

6 What do you want to be doing?
This.
I'd like to do more creative things, and more environmentally conscious things. I already get weird looks from my co-workers, but I think there's a lot more I could do. Oh, and travel.

7 What's next in your life?
Oy. The big stuff. House-buying and kid-having. I'm looking forward to both of them, but so much to think about!

8 How You Doin'?
Really, really well. 2006 was a good year and so far 2007 ain't bad either.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
YA: An Abundance of Katherines. And I'm not just sucking up. I loooved it.

Adult: The Polysyllabic Spree by Nick Hornby. It's essays he published in The Believer magazine on books and reading.

10 Describe a perfect day?
I always think that my perfect day would be spent on the couch, reading. Unfortunately, when I have a day that I *could* do that, I always end up bored and twitchy pretty quick.
So, either something outside -- hiking or something -- or traveling. Any day in London is a good day. But I would want to bring a book.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
I hope it's not global warming. I don't have a good non-scary answer, so let's say I think a giant goldfish will eat the world and that'll be the end of it.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
Confused. I've always thought 27-29 was about the right age to start having kids, but I'm coming up on that and feel like there's still stuff I want to do. But then I go to work and see a lot of cute kids and think, "Aww! I want one!" So, yeah. Confused.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)

Where's the weirdest place you've brushed your teeth?

The top of the Eiffel Tower.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?

Hideaway pizza and diet coke. No. Real coke.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?

the Girl Scout.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?

Waking up. Also going to bed. Evening is the only time I get time to myself; bedtime always comes too soon.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Some of it.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
Chocolate, but it's close.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
London. Or New York.

20 What was your first concert?

New Kids on the Block. Don't you judge me!

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?

A local, organic food co-op. Mostly because I can't find one around here and it frustrates me.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?

Time travel. Hank's right, it's no contest. I fear I'm getting boring though, that when contemplating time travel, I start to think, "Yeah, thus-and-such time was fascinating, but I'm not sure I want to, y'know, live through it. Can I bring my own toothbrush?"

23 What's wrong with the world?
I've been pretty upset with big business lobbyists lately.

Big Fireball o' Death (from all the global warming)

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
They're getting the shaft from our current administration's lack of vision in the education area.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
Q: Why are you so fabulous, Angela?
A: Practice. Lots and lots of practice.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Pizza topped with nachos with a side of mashed potatoes

The sidekick who gets all the laughs but not the guy

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
the first five minutes after I wake

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
Living life on the business end of severe burn-out as the result of trying to finish up in my MFA program.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
Done with classes in May, start thesis in September, graduate in May 08, BABY!

5 Why are you doing it?
I've forgotten. Sad, isn't it?

6 What do you want to be doing?
Reading what *I* want to read.

7 What's next in your life?
Still figuring that out.

8 How You Doin'?
I am fine. Thanks for asking.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
If we're talking since January 1, INDIGENOUS BEASTS by Nathan Sellyn. If we're talking one calendar year, THE BOOK THIEF.

10 Describe a perfect day?
Biking in the woods during a warm summer day.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
The pessimist in me says we'll become hopelessly submerged in our own greed and wanton lust. The optimist in me says the greediest of the race will consume the more thoughtful and then vomit themselves inside out.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
Would like one. Being a dad would be great. Won't happen. Now I'm sad.

13 Which is better: Classic DOCTOR WHO or the new DOCTOR WHO?
I'm going to wuss out and say that each holds a special place in my dimensionally trascendental heart.

Ambrozzo tastes like a blind man regaining his sight and first laying eyes on a wheat field at sunset. I think.

20 What was your first concert?
The Nylons

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
I have a feeling that time travel comes with the lazy stipulation that you can't change things so I'd go for invisibility and then set about changing things in the present.

23 What's wrong with the world?

Currently, we have a semi-functional retard in the White House, the repercussinos of which make things difficult for the entire world.

~Trying to finish up my Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in Jewelrysmithing. Having stressful interpersonal mishaps. Reading a lot of contemporary fiction.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
~Well, I hope I'm still interested in making stuff for the rest of my life and reading is like breathing for me. But I do wish the personal life would settle.

5 Why are you doing it?
I like to make stuff. And I like playing with fire. And... yeah.

Grad school? Maybe? Maybe see if I have inherited any writing abilities.

8 How You Doin'?

10 Describe a perfect day?

Zombies. Definitely zombies. Not the 28 days later kind, I mean the shaun of the dead kind.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
I'm only 22, let's wait about 5 to 10 years for that, please.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
For reading, do you prefer hard cover or paperback?

If it's a big unwieldy thing, I like hardcover, but otherwise I want paperback. Less guilt for the inevitable abuse in rereading.

An original Cadbury egg.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
A stitch in time saves nine.

The part where my alarm clock goes off.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Former Trekette. What do you think?

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
Chocolate.

San Francisco maybe. Nice art community, pretty weather.

The one where I get to dabble in this, that, and the other thing and still make money.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Time Travel. (Dangit, now I have to go reread The Time Traveler's Wife.)

23 What's wrong with the world?

2. Your Web page: Well, here's where I've geekily cataloged every book I've read for the past 3 years or so: http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=theorygal

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
Working as a "library para-professional" (i.e. lots of reference work but no Masters degree); reading 82 books; having backyard movie parties in the summer and indoor soup parties in the winter; procrastinating; having a brief and ill-conceived fling; cuddling with 2 fabulous cats; cultivating incredible friendships; and napping.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
Probably indefinitely, because I mostly love it; if it continues to only be parttime, though, I might have to move on.

5 Why are you doing it?
I like finding answers; I like working with the public; I like teaching; I like never knowing what's coming next; I like simultaneously being very logical and very creative; I like providing a service for free; I like not taking my working home with me.

6 What do you want to be doing?
Pretty much what I'm doing now, only with more time for teaching and developing curriculum (and more hours in general).

7 What's next in your life?
Finally cleaning the kitchen! Beyond that: continuing to fix up my little home and, pardoxically, getting out and being more social.

8 How You Doin'?
I'm kind of tired right now, but otherwise pretty good, thanks.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
In 2006? Probably a tie between The Dogs of Babel and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.

10 Describe a perfect day?
Wake up snuggling with the cats in bed; go out to eat a yummy breakfast while reading a really good book; hearing a great joke I've never heard before; getting a looong scalp massage, followed by other touchy-feely stuff I won't describe on a family-friendly website; a long, leisurely delicious dinner with good friends.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
Probably overpopulation and lack of natural resources.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
I often find them more interesting than grownups.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
What's the best doughnut in the world? The buttermilk bar at Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, OR.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Probably like a Voodoo buttermilk bar (see above) with a cup of really good coffee and cream.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
Crazy Cat Lady. Or Smutty Librarian.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
I have to agree with John: brushing my teeth is just a pain in the butt.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Sometimes. Though I can't stand most SciFi book covers. Who designs those things?

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
I refuse to live in a world where I have to choose between the two.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
In the cozy little Portland house that I already live in, only it would have: (a) a self-cleaning feature; (b) more closet space; and (c) a secret door that led to my hometown of Honolulu, so I could visit whenever I wanted.

20 What was your first concert?
Without adult supervision? Huey Lewis & the News.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
Hmmm... maybe a cupcakes for every occasion business.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
They both seem like a recipe for disaster; but probably time travel, so I could see what my parents & grandparents were like when they were young.

23 What's wrong with the world?
Man, that's so "glass half empty"! Couldn't you ask, "What's right with the world"? And the answer to that would be that a fairly high percentage of people practice common courtesy.

In light of the Caldecott medal winning book this year, I challenge either Green to create a wordless v-blog. Notecards ala "Love Actually" are acceptable. This would also address the secondary problem to having too many people in the world and that is that these same people talk too much and never shut up. Sorry for the cynicism, I may still be smarting from a recent bad theater experience.

2. Your Web page: don’t have one… yet

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? Working part-time; working on my master’s; reading; writing; and taking care of my 19 month old demon child, who is actually quite charming at times.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing? Taking care of the child- ‘til I die. Working- ‘til I retire. Reading and Writing- ‘til forever. Grad school- ‘til I finish

5 Why are you doing it? A mixture of “because I want to” & “because I have to.”

6 What do you want to be doing? Traveling & Writing

7 What's next in your life? More money; traveling and writing. Oh, and potty training.

8 How You Doin'? Um, okay…considering.

9 What's the best book you read this year? Just Listen by Sarah Dessen.

10 Describe a perfect day? Sleep in until 9:30 or 10. Go to bank to deposit hefty royalty check. Go to the post office to check fan mail. Go to the beach with my little demon (get tanned but not burned). Write. Read a good book. Watch a good movie. Of course, cheese fries and ranch dressing must appear at some point.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct? Probably from some massive chemical explosion that emits hundreds of thousands of pounds of poisonous gases into the atmosphere, suffocating us slowly and painfully.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days? I love my little demon. She is the cutest, most adorable thing ever.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
What is on your lifetime “to-do” list?
Be on the Oprah show (um, not for anything bad, but maybe because I’m famous and someone is dying to meet me). Write a novel that makes it to the best-seller list. Learn to ball-room dance. And I would love to be the voice of some animated character. This, among dozens of other things, of course.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like? A Caramello Bar

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be? My boyfriend (now husband) once heard two girls talking “bad” about me. One said that “everything I touched turned to gold.” I took it as a compliment… it’s not like I see them anymore, anyway.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day? Cleaning the house

17 Do you enjoy science fiction? Not really

18 Cheese or Chocolate? Chocolate

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere? Probably the Italian countryside, but I like where I’m at now, too (NC).

20 What was your first concert? Um. Reba McEntire

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be? A publishing house. I would love to be an acquisitions editor…

22 Invisibility or Time Travel? Time Travel. I’d like to wear corsets and poofy dresses… at least temporarily.

23 What's wrong with the world? The people in it.

I went back to work full-time in July at Oregon Health & Science University. Have you seen our new tram? Very cool!
4. I think I'll be writing for kids and teens for a long time. I think I'll be working at OHSU for the next couple of years.
5. Writing - because it's really hard to do it well and I need challenges in my life. Working full-time - because we have to be able to pay the bills.
6. I would love to be a school librarian.
7. Probably returning to college so I can actually become a school librarian.
8. I am successful and abundant (and have been reading about the Laws of Attraction)
9. SAINT IGGY, by K.L. Going
10. My agent calls and says my book is going to auction, and then we go out for margaritas and lots of chips and salsa and Hank and John Green show up with Katherine and the yeti.
11. The dinosaurs will return and eat us all.
12. I love kids. My two sons, ages 9 and 12, are great. No more babies for me, though. If I miss babies, I simply write about them, thus the reason for my book - BABY CAN'T SLEEP.
13. Why do you like John Green's books so much? Because the characters are so real and they make me LAUGH.

3. What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?

I've been up to a limited number of things, but they seem to do a wonderful job of taking up all my free time.

1. I've been co-writing a fantasy series with a really good friend of mine. His mind and mine really mesh well together (which explains why we dated for over two years...)and I couldn't be more excited about something in my life. I hope we can get it published, and I would love for writing to be my ACTUAL job.

2. I've been attending college full time (18 credit hours each semester) and managed to get good grades last time...so we'll see what happens this time.

3. Working part-time and hating it. College students seem to get the crappiest jobs ever, and if you're one of the luckies who got a cushy job- I hate you.

4. Sleep. When I can find the time.
4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?

5 Why are you doing it?
I write because I love it- and the voices in my head have too many stories to tell that I can't shut them up.

I'm going to college because as much as I love to write, I don't know if publishers will actually want to give me money to do it. So perhaps being a teacher will help pay my bills.

Why am I working? I have to. Kinda.

6 What do you want to be doing?
Writing full-time! And get married. That might be fun.

7 What's next in your life?
A degree? A published book? A husband? Yeah, something along those lines.

8 How You Doin'?
I'm well-rested, so that's a plus.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
I hate these kinds of questions. Since it's no longer 2006, my list is somewhat limited so far. Had I not recently read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, I TOTALLY would have put down An Abundance of Katherines. And I'm actually being serious while hoping that it gets me on John's good side. :) I'd say its tied for first place so far.

10 Describe a perfect day?
I can write until I physically no longer can do so and then sleep until I can start writing again.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?

We'll all kill each other in one way or another. And then the rest of us who survive will finally be taken out by our dogs, who have been waiting all this time to rule the world right under our feet.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
I'm a little young to think of having my own, but they're cute, and I definitely want some someday.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)

What do you think was the worst book into movie that you've ever seen?

Ella Enchanted

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?

Chinese.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?

The waking up part. After that, I'm good.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
If its written by Orson Scott Card.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
Cheese

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?

Not in Kansas

20 What was your first concert?
The Spice Girls!

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?

Um...hm.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Time travel.

23 What's wrong with the world?

A general lack of caring to help each other. (and..."I want world peace!") eh.

John...Here's the recipie...if you are still doing the blog when weight watchers is over, you have to eat the Brownies on camera....I wanna see your reaction upon eating them for the first time!

Cookie Dough Brownies:
1 pakage of fudge bownies pepared according to directions on box in a 9x13 inch pan....cooled

Cookie Dough Filling:
3/4 a cup of butter softened
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 and 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
1 and 1/2 cup flour

Beat Margerine, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add milk, vanilla, and flour. Blend well. Spread over cooled brownies (cover spatula with pam to keep the cookie dough from sticking) If the cookie dough is really hard to spread you can out it in the mocrowave for about 30 seconds to soften it up.

Chocolate Glaze

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening

Place chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave safe bowl for 1-2 minutes to melt. Stir until smooth (when you take the chips out of the microwave they will have the same shape as before, so you have to stir them to make them smooth). Pour glaze on top of the Cookie dough and refrigerate over night. Cutting the brownies may be hard to do because of the hardened chocolate so let brownies sit out for about 15-30 minutes, cut into 2 inch squares and re-refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Enjoy!

*Hope you eat them on the vlog and hope you enjoy the recipie...they are awesome!*

Of course because I typed up the recipie there are typos....I meant to say that you can PUT the cookie dough in the microwave not OUT it. Sorry for the typos if there are any more you cant decifer just ask! Enjoy!

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
I've been writing and rewriting my current book, CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO SPY, welcoming my sister's new baby into the world, and putting on a significant amount of weight.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
Hopefully not much longer--at all.

5 Why are you doing it?
Because the laws of nature dictate that I must welcome the new baby and my editor dictates that I must finish the book and I dictate that I can't write without eating at the computer.

6 What do you want to be doing?
Watching Veronica Mars and sleeping all day.

7 What's next in your life?
Hopefully watching Veronica Mars and sleeping all day.

8 How You Doin'?
Fine.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
My Antonia by Willa Cather, an oldie but a goodie.

10 Describe a perfect day?
My alma mater wins some sporting event; my mother cooks a big meal; my sister's girls play and my dad takes me out to show me the baby calves

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
I'm rusty on my Revelations, but I think it's in there somewhere.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
Fine, unless they're my sole responsibility, then I get a little panicky.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
Is your new book going to be worth all the effort?
I sincerely hope so.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
I honestly have no clue.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
I'd be the silver lining in every cloud.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
Waking up.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
In its high-end form and in limited doses.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
Tough call, but I think I've got to go with chocolate.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
On that big place with the spring across from the church at home.

20 What was your first concert?
I have vague recollections of an Oak Ridge Boys experience with my parents but don't quote me on that.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
I've always wanted to have a restaurant or a catering company or something like that.

I'm a writer on a deadline. Are you kidding me? TIME TRAVEL!

23. What's wrong with the world?
A general lack of common sense.

1. Your name: Shana Silver

2. Your Web page: http://www.prematureevacuation.com

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? I've been working on my debut YA novel (titled Premature Evacuation) and attempting to get it published. I got a short story published. Oh - and I redesigned and animated the CBS Sports graphics including the Superbowl graphics in my job-that-actually-pays-me. I also unsuccessfully tried to convince my boyfriend to propose to me.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
Hopefully not much longer to all of the above. Except maybe the job-that-actually-pays-me thing. I like getting paid. And not the writing part. I love writing. It's the 'attempting to sell the novel' I'd like to accomplish already.

5 Why are you doing it?
I love to write and I have stories to tell. I wanted to convince my bf to propose because I hate my last name and would prefer to be called by his. I guess I kind of love him too and all that. Except when he steals the covers from me in the middle of the night. Then I hate him.

6 What do you want to be doing?
Pretty much all of the above with a little less day job and a little more wedding planning.

7 What's next in your life?
Immediately: getting a pedicure. Longterm: revisions on book #2

8 How You Doin'?
Pretty good. Looking forward to that pedicure.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
I loved Katherines. I made my mom read it.

10 Describe a perfect day?
Agent calls and tells me my book sold, boyfriend proposes in some kick-ass way so I have a good story to tell my friends, I find out chocolate no longer makes people gain weight, I find out they finally renewed MY SO-CALLED LIFE for a second season, it's warm outside, somehow I wake up and gain more closet space in my apartment, and I grow a few inches so I'm no longer 5 feet tall.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
Probably through war.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
Wish they'd stop crying on the subway. I don't really have any reason to come in contact with kids otherwise.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
Will I clean my apartment today?
Nope.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Something chocolate with whipped cream and caramel drizzle.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
As cute as a button.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
When I wake up in the middle of the night shivering because my boyfriend is all snuggled in all the covers.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
A lot less now than I did when I was younger.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
CHOCOLATE!

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
I liked growing up in Jersey so that would be fine. Though I'd prefer it to be warm year round.

20 What was your first concert?
Bangles - I was 5 and dancing in the aisles and one of the employees thought I was so cute, they let me go up to the front row.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
I'd really like to start a YA lit magazine devoted to edgy subject matter.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Time travel so I could tell myself, "Wear your retainer and you won't need invisalign braces when you're 25."

23 What's wrong with the world?
Selfishness.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? living in idaho, going to lousy high school, wondering when is it ever going to end?

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing? at least one year. oh, we've been laughing. alot.

5 Why are you doing it? mostly because laughter is the only perfect way to break up the monotony

6 What do you want to be doing? laughing for the sake of laughing- not because i fear i will die if i don't

7 What's next in your life? i asume i shall go to college. hopefully some laughter?

8 How You Doin'? i am doing fine. i guess. i want to go steal a chicken from the niehghbors, but they are insane.

9 What's the best book you read this year? beyong the chocolate war.

10 Describe a perfect day? i would have to say april 12. its not too hot and not too cold. all you need is a light jacket.

first, i shall wake at six. then go lap swimming at the park. walk home. eat some bacon. and orange juice. watch brotherhood 2.0, yes it will be up! then go tubing on the river. then go to the fair where we buy scone bigger than my face and eat it with nacho cheese, then ride the ferris wheel just to say we did, then go home and watch a scary movie. then walk to the golf course where we "golf"

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct? once we have depleted all resources we shall turn to the other planets and attempt to steal from them. we will lose the fight.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days? as i am currently a kid, as i call myself, (my peers don't like being called "kid" but i do it anyway) i am currently feeling distain and mild nausea.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -) this is copy of my survey:

!. When faced with the question, "How do you like your eggs?" how do you respond?:

@. If your hair stylist told you that your hair was actually amber, and you have always thought it was brown, how would that make you feel? (I would feel like running towards the Hair Care aisle so that I could correct what that moron had managed to accomplish.):

#. Hypothetically speaking, You are driving down a deserted back road, and suddenly That One Kid Who Sits In The Corner And Picks His Nose sprints in front of your vehicle which is moving at that time strait for That One Kid Who Sits In The Corner And Picks His Nose. Do you a) accelerate b) pump the brake c) wait for ABS to kick in all on it's very own accord d) close your eyes and brace yourself while you wait for the KA-THUNK KA-THUNK e)Chase him down with a .12 gauge and beat the kid. Please explain, in detail:

$. The Jehovah's Witnesses come to your door. Please explain, in detail, your first impulse:

%. It is election time. Barbara, The Big Busted Buffoon, is wearing a mini-skirt and halter top. Do you vote for her, though she is mentally touched? Or do you vote for Marty, The Meticulously Middle Aged Man, who is qualified for this particular position. Who do you vote for, and why?

^. What is your favorite scent of Axe Deodorant Body Spray? No, this is not a trick question:

&. Do you prefer a) diet b) regular c) caffeine free d) sweetened with Splenda e) none at all. Please answer truthfully as you will be graded on this questionnaire.

*. Whose picture is on the 6 dollar bill?:

(. Whitey Tighties or Boxers? (Girls ignore this question completely, or you WILL be shot in the buttock region. It will also make your eyes bleed.):

!). When you hold the magnifying glass at exactly 2:00 over the poor miniscule being know as the ant (which is not named Marge), and it is running for its life and most likely screaming or crying (but you can't hear because your ears are too small and pokey outey), do you continue in this inhumane source or torture, or lay off?:

!!. You hold a turtle underwater for 4 hours, when in fact they are only supposed to be able live for two hours, and it survives through this turmoil. What noise does that turtle make when allow him to surface, assuming of course, that this turtle is a HE:

!@. My cat is cute. This is not a question, but a fact. Feel free to comment:

!#. Explain in detail your happiest event that involved (dare we say) fire. You must answer or else your score will decrease in seven different areas (Including: eyebrow attraction, toenail growth, and what size shirt you wear):

!$. We are currently creating a new breed of e-mail questionnaire thingies such as this particular document which we have decided to present to you at this time. If you approve, please explain why. If not, then you would do better to turn off your computer and run outside to bang your head on the concrete, which is your driveway, and scream, "MY BRAIN IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR THIS TYPE OF MENTAL EXERTION!!!!" We would prefer you commented, for if you did the banging part, we may be held liable for your actions. Explain:

!%. It is 7:00 a.m. A rooster crows through the morning breeze. Acting upon your first impulse, you proceed to smash and mutilate the demon creature from heck. After you have accomplished this heinous deed, you find yourself realizing that it was not the rooster's, but your OWN dirty mind that you should be blaming. Do you agree?:

!^. An Eligible Young Man (or woman) arrives at your door with flowers and a small box that looks like it may contain a ring. He (or she) gently descends onto his (or her) left knee. You of course notice this, seeing as you have a swift and comprehendible mind. The Eligible Young Man (or woman) proceeds to quote a bit of Shakespeare. All that you can make of this Shakespeare is, "Blah, blah blah blah thee. Thou blah blah blah, blah dittity blah blah." followed by a numerous amount of blahs, and several "Thees" and "Thous." You feel touched that the Eligible Young Man (or woman) was so prepared. But, alas, you are in love with Herman (or Bernice, if in case you are a man), the dishwasher repairman (or woman), who lives next door. How do you let the Eligible Young Man (or woman) know that you neither understand Shakespeare, nor are you willing to marry him (or her). To put a twist in this sick plot, you must reject his (or her) offer without breaking his (or her) cheesy, but delicate heart? Proceed:

!&. When you ask for Coke at A Restaurant, and The Waitress asks, "Is Pepsi all right?" You reply, "Yes." How does this actually make you feel:

!*. You are a FAT MAN! Yes, all of you girls are indeed FAT MEN! FAT, meaning you are 279 lbs overweight and measure up to the height of 4'3". (Did you know that if are under five feet, you may proceed to obtain that precious HANDY-CAPPED STICKER you always wish for when you blow out the candles?) What we are trying to get through to you is, that you are a FAT MAN! No offense to anyone who is indeed, a FAT MAN! We love you despite your overeating habits, that may or may not cause you to be obese. Comment please:

!(. On to a slightly more sane subject, my cute cat has recently walked through the legs of my chair. She is now making Zzzz's. She's furry and hot and takes up a lot of my bed and she's hogging the breeze. Do you know where this poem originated? Hint: it has been slightly modified to fit the kitten:

@). If you recall that FLAN was mentioned several times during ENVY, that one movie with Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Brendan Fraser's wife from THE MUMMY RETURNS, and that one creepy drunk, who unfortunately is always the bad guy in movies. To the point of this fable...... Describe in detail the taste and texture of FLAN. (We tasted it the other day, and found it to be unbelievably different) If you have not sampled this Spanish custard, make up your answer, or visit your local grocery store. FLAN can be found in the JELL-O pudding section. It typically only costs about 59 cents, so it is worth the purchase. Explain your feelings on FLAN, now:

@!. If a rooster laid an egg on top of the barn, which way would the egg roll? This is indeed a TRICK QUESTION. Feel free to answer to the best of your abilities. It is ok if you are not very smart (we understand that brains are not meant for this kind of teasing):

@@. Have ever actually had the dream that you are naked, and at school? We ask this question, because we have only met one person who has. If you have explain. You will also be awarded with the personal knowledge that you are one of the chosen few. If your dream is especially interesting, we will send you seven Oreos on your birthday. You will in fact pay the shipping and handling fee of $7.26. Now would be the time to share:

@#. Use this space freely. Please include no profanity or vulgar language:

@$. You are driving down the street. You see Those Two Girls Who Sit On The Curb, Creepily, And Think They're All That. Suddenly It's a red light. Your windows are down, and you are listening to that one song that everyone likes, but won't admit it because The Singer is gay (seriously, the dude is GAY). Those Two Girls Who Sit On The Curb, Creepily, And Think They're All That yell something at you, which might be inappropriate. How do you retaliate? Please answer to the best of your ability, being as truthful and grammatically correct as possible:

@%. Perhaps by now you have figured out our numbering system. If in fact you do, explain it. If not, make it up. We don't mind. Most of this is made up. Feel free to be creative:

1. Your name: kari

2. Your Web page: I guess www.harvard.com is as close to a website as I have.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? Selling books to people. Learning more about the business. Helping with the kids book buying. Not developing a personal life.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing? For a long time.

5 Why are you doing it? I love what I do. Connecting books I love with readers who will, hopefully, also appreciate them is a very wonderful thing.

6 What do you want to be doing? Pretty much what I’m doing now, but perhaps closer to my family.

7 What's next in your life? Moving back toward the middle of the country and finding a job similar to the one I have now.

8 How You Doin'? been better, but not too shabby.

9 What's the best book you read this year? I’m not sure it was the best, but the most unexpected was Alabama Moon by Watt Key. Also, Truth and Beauty by Ann Patchett.

10 Describe a perfect day? Start out at Grandma’s house, making breakfast, followed by a loud family game of Hand and Foot, followed by baking with grandma and my little sister. Afternoon nap. Drive to Omaha, see movie with large group of friends. Make dinner and drinks. Talk a lot. Laugh even more. Perhaps play Trivial Pursuit or Scene It. End the evening with a 2 AM trip to Perkins for pie and conversation. Leave when we realize it’s 4:30 in the morning.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
simple human error.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days? Kids are great, as long as they belong to someone else.

13 What’s been going through your head lately? Well, this last weekend it was an endless loop of White Collar Boy by Belle and Sebastian. Before that is was Your Smile Is a Drug by Patrick Park and I’ll Make You Mine by Rainer Maria.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like? A Misty’s prime rib sandwich with swiss cheese and sautéed mushrooms.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be? Not so much a cliché as a stock character: the tomboy next door.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day? The waking up part (followed closely by the hour and a half of wishing I could fall asleep part).

17 Do you enjoy science fiction? It’s shiny.

18 Cheese or Chocolate? Cheese. Mmmm, cheese.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere? Ireland.

20 What was your first concert? I’m pretty sure it was Sawyer Brown at the county fair. Oh, how I wish it was really Nelson at the state fair (concert #3) or the Nylons at the Lied Center (concert #2).

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be? An Independent book store with a spectacular children’s/ya section.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel? Time travel, I suppose.

23 What's wrong with the world? At the moment, it’s too cold (for me).

1. Your name:
Cynthiaaaa. yes, with multiple a’s. sometimes.

2. Your Web page:
it sorta.. died?

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
according to my handy dandy invisible calendar, it’s only been ’07 for two months, so not that much. Uh.. school midterms. Aced those—100 on one English essay, 98 on the other [YEAH NERD FIGHTERS!]. Planned my schedule for senior HS year, gosh I’m like the baby on here, and applied four times to a job that hasn’t called back yet. S’been fantastic!

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
since I am busy with a semi-flu at the moment, hopefully I won’t be doing that too long. And student-wise, uh.. does school never end?

5 Why are you doing it?
not voluntarily sick, not voluntarily going to school. this question is unfair because I am a mere young adult!

6 What do you want to be doing?
ohh I love the future: me’s a-gonna be an Advertising graphic designer, who writes short fiction, possibly fantasy and poetry, on the side, and later on in life I will return to school to become an archeologist in Egypt. yay (:

7 What's next in your life?
Passing the SATs.. and taking a wonderful train ride to the wonderful NYC tomorrow! Hey John, don’t you live in that fantastic place?

8 How You Doin'?
Dandy as mocha candy, fuh shizzle.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
oh this is tough. I’ll make a list. yes, a list.
Ugiles/Pretties/Special triology by Scott Westerfeld.
Crashing by Chris Wooding.
I Just Hope It’s Lethal Poetry collection byyyy I forget who.
LFA by Mr. John Green.
Twilight/New Moon by Stephenie Meyer.
& I’m gone stop here :D

10 Describe a perfect day?
I wake up in a nice warm room with a warm breeze, but it’s totally quiet and totally dark. Walk downstairs to see a beautiful array of chocolate chip pancakes and a vanilla chai tea latte all for me. It’d be summer, and there’d be an unlimited supply of money for me to use, which would call for a rendezvous in NY la citta’ for me and a select few. There’d be concerts and partying and so on and so forth, and no curfew to rush home to. And oh when I get back there’d be no little sister creatures to annoy yours truly. And I’d fall asleep around 4am all happylike. The end.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
In about a thousand years humans will have populated Mercury, and from that colonization will emerge a MUTANT race of humans, much more cooler, with like, pyro and telekinesis abilities. So these angry mutant dudes are gonna get mad at us original earthlings for ruining our home planet Earth, and kick our asses out of this galaxy. Then of course the cycle will start over again with the mutants.. but that’s how the –humans- will be extinct, savvy.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
Anyone born in 1994 is a waste of oxygen. But besides the smelly diapers and hair pulling, they’re ok.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Some really nice and crispy city-style pizza, extra cheese, with a touch of salt, mixed with some penne alla vodka and marshmallow peeps… of course, it would have to taste fantabulous too.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
’Cheer up emo kid.’
that is a cliché right?

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
when I wake up.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
STAR WARS = LOVE.
though not in the over-obsessed sortof way.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
chocolateeeeee!

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
A penthouse in Manhattan, house somewhere in lovely Britain, and Egypt for good measure.

20 What was your first concert?
*Nsync. though to be technical, it was more of a pop sensational spur than a concert. So Linkin Park :D

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
The business where.. you wouldn’t have to do anything! sweet!

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
invisibility of course. time travel is too finicky.. John&Hank have you ever seen Dane Cook’s shpiel on Time Travel? I highly recommend it. very informing.

23 What's wrong with the world?
What’s eating Gilbert Grape?

horrible movie, but same principle. I think. Otherwise, I’d like to change my answer to overpriced shoes and Dick Cheney and I agree, too cold!

1. Your name: Ramana

2. Your Web page: don’t have one yet, but working on it.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? I’m in my second semester of grad school. I’m working on a MLIS, which is masters degree for library school. And yes, there is a school and degree for librarians.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing? I hoping I would be done with grad school in 2009.

5 Why are you doing it? I love books. There is an enormous amount of information out there and very few people have a clue of what to do with it. People think Google and Wikipedia is the answer to everything.

6 What do you want to be doing? Exactly what I’m doing right now.

7 What's next in your life? I would love to work in a high school. I’m also hoping that I get a masters in English lit- maybe in Victorian Lit or Shakespeare and teach either in a high school or university.

8 How You Doin'? Pretty good, thanks.

9 What's the best book you read this year? Oh man, where do I start? I loved Westerfeld’s Uglies triology. Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. Just finished Dessen’s Dreamland, what a great book. John's LFA (not technically this yr though ;) )

10 Describe a perfect day? I wake up in the morning and have a nice breakfast. Head over to a small café where I talk with my boyfriend about everything and anything with out worrying about time. Read a good book and watch a great movie.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct? Well, at this right. We’ll probably drown due to global warming or kill ourselves.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days? For the most part, I like them. There are those few who act like they were born in with a silver spoon in their mouths.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
Who is your favorite actor? Why?
Dead or alive? Dead: Laurence Olivier, the guy was a damn good english actor. Alive: Johnny Depp- the guy is a chameleon; he could play anything and he’s unpredictable.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like? I have no idea.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be? All that glitters isn’t gold.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day? Hearing my alarm clock and waking up at 6 a.m.
17 Do you enjoy science fiction? Yes, anything by Vonnegut and Ray Bradbury.

18 Cheese or Chocolate? Chocolate hands down.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere? Hmm… maybe Paris. It’s got culture and no one really cares what you are doing.

20 What was your first concert? Dido

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be? A bookstore /music store that that sells only good books and music.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel? I don’t know. Maybe invisibility. You can do things that you won’t normally do if you are seen. Get your mind out of the gutter…

23 What's wrong with the world? Ignorance and prejudice

1. Your name:
Elena

2. Your Web page: http://bibliophile.midnight-dreams.org
http://midnightsmagic.livejournal.com

3. What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
Going to college. Going to the Alpha Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror Workshop for Young Writers (http://alpha.spellcaster.org). Working as an attraction ticket taker at the Minnesota State Fair. Going to college again, but with a better roommate. Reading. Writing. Stressing.

4. How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
I will never stop reading and writing. College for the next slightly less than two years (then grad school, which kind of still counts as college). Never working as an attraction ticket taker EVER AGAIN. Stressing? Probably forever, though I hope not.

5. Why are you doing it?
Reading and writing because...who wouldn't want to read and write? College because I'm not quite ready to face the real world yet. (Also because I want to be a librarian, and that requires an MLS degree). Stressing because you can't go to college and not stress.

6. What do you want to be doing?
Going to a mythical college where there are fun people and interesting classes, but no homework.

7. What's next in your life?
I'm going camping in Texas with friends over Spring Break. That should be exciting.

8. How You Doin'?
Pretty good, thanks.

9. What's the best book you read this year?
No way; I refuse to think back to all the approximately one hundred books and pick just one. (An Abundance of Katherines is definitely ranked up there though!)

10. Describe a perfect day?
Wake up late for class, only to find out that classes have been cancelled because of snow. My friends and I build snowbeings and make snow angels and forts until we're soaking and exhausted. Then a private jet comes to take me home to Minnesota, where I wrestle with my dog and cuddle with my cat and go out to eat with my mom and we stay up late talking.

11. Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
Major disaster (natural or accidentally man-made) wipes out most of the Earth's population.

12. How are you feeling about kids these days?
Babies are adorable! ...It'll be a while before I get one for myself, however.

13. Who are your personal, political, historical, and literary heroes/heroines?
Personal: My Mom
Political: Paul Wellstone
Historical: Thomas Paine
Literary: Josh/Larry from Janet Tashjian's "The Gospel According to Larry"

14. Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
If it tastes better than anything else, then obviously it doesn't taste like anything I could describe.

15. If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
The quiet bookworm.

16. What is your least favorite part of any given day?
I'm with Hank on this one; waking up is awful.

17. Do you enjoy science fiction?
Not space opera, but I'll eat up almost any other kind of sci-fi.

18. Cheese or Chocolate?
Chocolate, but only milk chocolate. Dark is too bitter and white is just gross.

19. Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
Somewhere with a moderate year-round temperature, forests, the ocean, and all my friends and family.

20. What was your first concert?
The Barenaked Ladies.

21. If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
A science fiction/fantasy/horror bookstore (that's the plan, anyway).

22. Invisibility or Time Travel?
Again agreeing with Hank that time travel is the obvious winner, providing that there would be none of the major disasters depicted in almost every film and book on the subject.

23. What's wrong with the world?
People.

(it's mostly about life with baby)

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
Quitting job as Children's Librarian, buying house in new town, having a baby (and discovering the wonder of the epidural), reviewing YA books, enjoying life with husband, baby, and two dachshunds.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
The stay-at-mom home bit probably until Callum heads off to some sort of school. The book reviewing bit hopefully forever. Paid to read? That's the best!

5 Why are you doing it?
I'm too jealous to let anyone else take care of my kid most of the day, and I'm lucky enough to be able to stay home with him.

6 What do you want to be doing?
Exactly this. Though, if I could be two people at once, I would like to also go off to work at the library every day. But only if I could do both jobs simultaneously.

7 What's next in your life?
Um... turning 30 this year? Coffee is what's immediately next.

8 How You Doin'?
How YOU doin'?

9 What's the best book you read this year?
I don't like the word "best," but I really enjoyed Nick and Nora's Infinite Play List by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan (along with many, many other books).

10 Describe a perfect day?
I wake up well before Callum, Matthew doesn't have to work, we drink lots of coffee. We go to St. Paul, push Callum in his stroller down Grand for hours, going into bookstores and toystores and drinking bubble tea. We come home and eat Thai food and watch How I Met Your Mother.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
Disease.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
Kids in general, I am not entirely fond of. My nearly 9-month-old, Callum, rules. Raising a baby is the craziest experiment ever.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
Q: How many times have you moved?
A: 15.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Buttercream frosting.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
My cliched motto would be "don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today."

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
3:00 pm or so. So slumpy tired.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Sometimes.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
Dark, dark chocolate.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
Boston.

20 What was your first concert?
1993: Bad Religion with Green Day and Helmet (or was it Quicksand?) opening at First Ave. in Minneapolis.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
A children's bookstore.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Time travel.

23 What's wrong with the world?
What isn't wrong with the world?

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
I didn't want to answer this question. My grandmother died last April, so, for the last year I've been dealing with her death. She died painfully. At the end, she couldn't read any longer, which I think was her version of Hell.
She left me her car. We are now living in her house. I am now working at the library where she volunteered A LOT. It's been very weird.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
I just started doing what I'm doing, so I hope it will last a bit.

5 Why are you doing it?
It has made me happy.

6 What do you want to be doing?
Probably painting and redecorating this house. I'd really like to remove the blue eagle wall paper that's older than I am from our bedroom.

7 What's next in your life?
Probably kids.

8 How You Doin'?
Good. I'm doing well.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
In 2007? An Abundance of Katherines. Not trying to suck up, but I've only read about 12 books so far this year and a good half of them were vampire romances, so there's not been a lot of competition. If we're talking about the last 12 months, I think the Invader series by C.J. Cherryh.

10 Describe a perfect day?
Thunder storm. No where to have to go. A pot of my favorite tea. A book, possibly a few of a series that I'm really enjoying. Curled up on the couch, drinking tea reading. What would make it even more awesome would be if my husband also had a good book and we snuggled up together reading.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
I think it's going to be weather related. I've heard quite good theories involving another ice age. But dragons would be cooler, I'd support dragons. But not zombies.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
Nervous.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
What's your superpower?
Nine times out of ten I can find missing or misplaced books in book stores and libraries. Last night my powers expanded to misplaced DVDs.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Cold cold milk

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
Small but deadly.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
Morning. I'm quite sure that the hours between 5 a.m. and about 8:30 a.m. are infused with evil.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Yes, but more watching rather than reading usually.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
This one's too hard. All of my favorite foods involve one or the other.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
The house I'm living in.

20 What was your first concert?
Black Crowes (they opened for Robert Plant)

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
I love tracking down hard to find books for folks. That would be really cool if I got paid for it.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Invisibility, as long as I remembered to be careful of traffic.

23 What's wrong with the world?
No one wants to take responsibility for their own actions.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
Last year was one miserable-ass year filled with death, injury and illness, and I am glad to be rid of it. Other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
I will be continuing my indentured servitude in my current position at a local television station in lovely Pittsburgh, PA for at least 18-20 more years. Funny story....my dream job in college was to be a camera operator at a television station. Little did I realize that particular position is an entry level job. On one hand I achieved my goal immediately, on the other after 20 years local TV is less than satisfying.

5 Why are you doing it?
Truthfully, I’m lazy, the money’s not horrible and I still love those with whom I work (sadly, not for whom I work).

6 What do you want to be doing?
That would be a huge help to know the answer to that question.

7 What's next in your life?
More of the same. Plus spending more time on what is really important, i.e. George (hubby), family and spending time with my dear, dear friends who make me laugh so hard that tears pour from my eyes...or pop comes out of my nose, but that is far messier.

8 How You Doin'? Muy bien, gracias. Y tu?

9 What's the best book you read this year?
Besides “An Abundance of Katherines”, “Extremely Loud and Incredible Close” by Jonathan Safron Foer. That is one incredible book well worth the journey.

10 Describe a perfect day?
George and me under an arbor awash in golden sunshine at a Villa in the Tuscan hills with our dearest friends discussing life and loves and laughter while sipping a divinely smooth Brunello, dining on the most delectable peasant Italian foods waiting for the sun to set.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
A giant, Monty Python like foot will crush us at the end of the credits.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
Wasn’t fortunate enough to be able to have any. I’m way too old to have them now. We’re happy to hang with our nieces and nephews.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -) Do you believe in reincarnation? Abso-frelling-tutely! I don't buy into the whole "one soul per person" theory. I have met too many youngsters who are much wiser than their years and mature folks who are greener than new grass. Besides, it's rather comforting to believe that even if evildoers like Cheney and his lot don't get the justice they deserve in this lifetime, karma will take care of them in the next.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
What the heck is Ambrozzo?

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be? Long of tooth

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
When the alarm buzzes at 3am!?

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Yes, I enjoy a number of Sci Fi shows. Not a big Sci Fi reader, though.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
Cheese AND Chocolate. (I’m Italian. I have an equal love affair with both.)

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere? Tuscany

20 What was your first concert?
Geez! That was soooo long ago. I’m embarrassed to admit it was probably Tony Orlando and Dawn, but in my defense I was only 15. My favorite now and forever is Francis Dunnery, so I think that makes up for it.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be? A hip, intimate concert club

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Time travel (I think only pervs choose invisibility)

23 What's wrong with the world?
Humanity as a whole has lost it’s collective sense of humor. If people, particularly the radical religious types, would lighten up and laugh at themselves things would be a lot better. I believe the solution to the world’s current problems could be solved by air dropping copious kilos of cannabis to hot spots (the white house, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Korea, Africa, etc.) followed 8 hours later by an equal proportion of Doritos. The world would be a much more enjoyable place.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)?
Getting an agent, revising, revising some more, revising again, selling my first book, going to Florida to see my newborn niece, making everyone I know look at pictures of newborn niece.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?
The final manuscript of the first book is due in April, so I'll be revising again until then. I'll be showing off pictures of the niece until she grows out of the cute stage.

5 Why are you doing it?
Because I love writing and because my niece is, in my biased opinion, the World's Cutest Baby.

6 What do you want to be doing?
Right now, I want to be at home in bed because I'm sick.

7 What's next in your life?
Writing the second book of my two book deal and, yes, more revisions.

8 How You Doin'?
Sick. The Husband brought the flu into our house.

9 What's the best book you read this year?
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

10 Describe a perfect day?
Sleeping late, writing, a date with The Husband. Oh, and making it onto the NYT bestseller list would be an added bonus.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct?
I'm really hoping a rogue black hole will suck us all up. I saw it on Last Days on Earth on ABC last year, which told about the different ways life on Earth could possibly end, and the black hole was my favorite. So yeah, I'm rooting for the black hole.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days?
They're cute, but I'm beginning to think I like my me time too much to really have one of my own.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts?
Krispy Kreme, definitely. Preferably glazed lemon filled.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Strawberry shortcake.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
The bookworm

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
The hours between 8:00am-5:00pm (when I'm stuck at the day job).

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Yes, I'm a big fantasy and science fiction geek.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
Hmm...I really love chocolate, but I also really love cheese....Um...uh...cheese! No, chocolate! No, cheese!...Chocolate covered cheese? Ew, nevermind.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
South Florida (I do plan to move back there eventually)

20 What was your first concert?
The Wallflowers at SunFest (a weeklong street festival) in West Palm Beach, FL.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be?
A huge bookstore filled with every book ever written.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel?
Time travel would be awesome.

23 What's wrong with the world?
A lack of common sense.

2. Your Web page: I have none, but www.lizgallagher.com is coming soon. As soon as I make a friend who knows how to build a web site.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? Revising my forthcoming first novel, THE OPPOSITE OF INVISIBLE, with Wendy Lamb. Living in Seattle. Riding my Vespa every day, even in the wind storm that took out electricity for 100,000 people. Doing the things that preschoolers do. Sleeping on my couch.

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing? These specific things – not much longer, except for the scootering. New things are coming. The working with Wendy will continue forever if I have anything to say about it, but this project is almost wrapped up.

5 Why are you doing it? I tend to just fall into things.

6 What do you want to be doing? Writing novels. So that’s lucky.

7 What's next in your life? I’m THISCLOSE to starting a new job with a company called Headsprout, as Educational Programs Editor, whatever that may be. I’ll find out.

8 How You Doin'? Meh. You?

9 What's the best book you read this year? Oh, my. I’ll go for no surprises here and say THE BOOK THIEF and OCTAVIAN NOTHING.

10 Describe a perfect day? Wake up kinda late but refreshed, go to breakfast with friends, read, watch movies, write with inspiration, go out for more good food. Maybe throw some hypothetical romance in there.

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct? Well . . . I hope it’s after the universe starts shrinking and time goes backward, so we can all be born by dying.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days? Some nutto ones just made me quit my job.

13 (- In this space, compose your own question, and answer it -)
Q: Why would anyone ask, “Cheese or chocolate?” when cheese is a MOLD and chocolate is HEAVEN?
A: I don’t know. That musta been a trick question.

14 Ambrozzo tastes better than anything else, what does ambrozzo taste like?
Chocolate. Possibly with mint.

15 If you were a cliché, what cliché would you be?
Quarter-life crisis girl.

16 What is your least favorite part of any given day?
Getting out of bed. Or watching preschoolers pretend to be fireman. That gets really, really, really boring.

17 Do you enjoy science fiction?
Eh.

18 Cheese or Chocolate?
See above.

19 Where would you live if you could live anywhere?
I guess, Seattle. I’m not native to here, been five years, free as a birdie, think about moving, can’t figure out where else to do.

20 What was your first concert?
NKOTB opening for Tiffany at Valley Forge Music Fair.

21 If you could start a business that would be instantly successful, what kind of business would it be? Books By Liz And Friends: your neighborhood store and studio.

22 Invisibility or Time Travel? Time travel.

23 What's wrong with the world? This all depends on my mood – either it’s bad drivers, excess, or hunger. Or the fact that chocolate does not make you skinny.

3 What have you been up to this past year (please be as detailed as possible, because we actually want to know)? I have been reading books(and abundance of katherines and looking for alaska-because I LOVE them and have read them like, 8 billion times) I've been hanging out with my boyfriend. I'm a singer and an actress and I've been in a play called Mama! I'm your child, which didn't work out so well buecause they owe me a shitload of money...I've beenworking on songs for my demo...and living a boring frigin' life overall.(I did also, have to face the fact that the Looking For Alaska rights have already been handed over and I DO NOT get to be Alaska.-No really, I cried.)

4 How much longer do you think you'll be doing what you're doing?I hope to be a professional actress, but I don't have everything in that basket, I would also like to be a teacher.

5 Why are you doing it?I love it. I like pretending to be someone else(and not in the emo-sort-of-way)

9 What's the best book you read this year? Looking for alaska...again.

10 Describe a perfect day?I can't tell you what I wish for...then it won't come true. :D

11 Assuming that all things come to an end...how do you think humans will go extinct? The sam way the dinosaurs did...Nobody has a clue. But...I'd say that women will finally assume their place as ruler over the men and then we will decide they don't really matter and desroy them using soap operas amd chick flicks until their brains explode and then women, having no men to reproduce with, will become extinct after their long and wonderful rule.

12 How are you feeling about kids these days? Well, these days...they bother me a lot unless they are bust saying something cute...or if their british...or canadian

13 (- WHat will you be doing the day the Looking for alaska movie comes out? -)Crying because I'm not her. :[
