ALA Annual Conference

I'll be attending (and videoing!) the ALA's annual conference in Washington, D.C. this year. My schedule:

Friday June 22ND
I'm not doing anything, but I am flying in early to hear Ellen Wittlinger and Laurie Halse Anderson and Walter Dean Myers speak at the Booklist forum from 8 to 10 PM.

SATURDAY JUNE 23RD

Saturday from 10:15 A.M. to Noon, I'll be speaking along with Judy Blume and Jack Gantos and Bruce Coville about audiobooks. That's at the Washington Convention Center, Room 201.

At 3 PM that day, I'll be signing CDs (or mp3s, maybe?) of the audiobook of Katherines at the Brilliance Audio Booth.

SUNDAY JUNE 24TH

I'll be signing books at the Baker and Taylor booth (#1703) from 10 to 11 AM.

MONDAY JUNE 25TH

I'll be signing books at the Penguin booth (#2710) from 10 to 11 AM. Then that evening I will be speaking at the Printz awards and attending the Printz reception. And then I go home!

Hope to see all the librarian nerdfighters there.

I was just curious- considering your background in public radio, did you ever think of doing your audio books yourself? If yes, what made you choose not to?

Also, your radio archives nearly destroyed my academic career with their awesomeness. You should be very proud.

Hooray for ALA!

Erm, the conference website and materials all say that audiobooks panel starts at 10:30 rather than 10:15. I'd hate to miss the first 15 minutes of the awesomness that is sure to be John Green and Judy Blume (and Jack Gantos and Bruce Coville too) in a room together!

For all your busy schedule, any chance you'll have a bit of time to talk with a poor, pitiful, nerdfighter undergrad? I'm working on a research project examining (in short) the place of YA lit within the literary community, and I'd love the change to grill you about a myriad of topics. Perhaps, if you're overwhelmed at ALA, an email exchange?

What are the chances of you coming and doing a book signing anywhere near Wisconsin?
Because you should... we need your brilliance desperately up here!
(are you convinced yet...?)

There are sure to be librarian and blogger nerdfighters at the KidLit Drink Night in DC and we'd love it if you'd stop by. It's at the Capitol City Brewing Company around the cross of H and 11th streets very near the Convention Center. Start time 5:30.

Did I mention that there would be miniature donkey polo there?

I saw you at ALA and I just wanted to say how great your Printz speech was! You had all of us librarian nerdfighters laughing like crazy. I hope you like Indianapolis. It's definitely not Chicago, Toto.
