What Could You Do with a Poe Bust?!

So since Paper Towns won the Edgar Award, I've been wondering what I should do with the bust of Edgar Allan Poe I now own. This video--in which I play Wii with Poe and also waterboard him--is the result of that quest.

(In case you don't follow internet memes, I stole this idea from the brilliant Tyler Oakley.)

Edgar Allen Pwned . . . AHAHAHA!!

*wonders why Poe had a British accent at the end, when he wasn't, well, British*

Congratulations!

I have a bust of Edgar Allen Poe but I didn't win any awards for literature (I wish!). I just have a bust of Edgar Allen Poe because it's cool. Also, I'm from Baltimore and ever since Poe died here, he's kind of been our city's obsession (our football team, the greatest football team on the face of the earth: The Ravens and our mascot birds are named Edgar, Allen, and Poe).

Congrats, for some reason I thought it'd be pewter or bronze or something without bright ceramic colors. :)

Forgive me for the following snarky comment:

Are you aware you have self publishing advertisements for IUniverse and Tate Publishing beneath your youtube posts? Surely you don't need money that bad!

For those out there, Heads Up -- John Green doesn't self-publish. It is never a good idea in the industry as your book most likely will not get stocked anywhere and will also not be able to benefit from insightful editor comments.

on the subject of paper towns, is it a coincidence that "Margo Roth Spiegelman" anagrams to "glaring metamorphose?"...or not?
or am i reading too much into that?
and does Q's love for and spontaneous purchase of Nerds have anything to do with your devoted following of nerdfighters?
???

Are there other awards you could collect that would come with author busts to keep Edgar company? Or maybe he can just hang out with/be assimilated by the black Santa collection?

Congrats John! You deserved it- Paper Towns is a fantastic book.

I have a question for a possible question Tuesday (or Friday :D) and it is: Whatever happened to resident mathematician and fellow nerdfighter Daniel Biss?

First of all, congratulations on your award.

But I also have a question for you as a potential role model for my daughter, who, like you did as a child, writes a great many stories on notebook pages with crayon illustrations.

She has tons of creativity and a pretty good grasp of dialogue and realism between characters. But on her blog, she spends many sessions over several days writing a story in draft form . . . writing and writing and writing . . . and then when I look at her the next time, she's deleted the whole thing and started something completely new. Sometimes its starting over on the same idea.

I realize she's only 8-years-old, but I'd love for her to follow something through to what she feels is completion, and have it out there for other people to react to. Right now, no one in the family gets to see it and realize what she is doing.

Do I just relax and let her get older? She says she wants to be a writer when she grows up. I showed you one of the Brotherhood 2.0 videos you did years ago when you were talking about your childhood writing, because I want her to realize that you started out writing similarly to what she does now . . . but you became a published writer. I want her to believe it CAN be possible.

Do you have suggestions?

Thank you very much.

I vote for garden gnome. Plus, that would keep him outside, and really, it might be a little creepy having him watching you all the time.

Err....I think Edgar could beat me at Wii.....just sad.

Yes your poe bust is amazing, however what would you do with a rich bust, a multi billionaire bust, or an average middle class bust, Hmmmmmm?

Way to go, we all saw it coming.

"he's already dressed as a sailor!"
lol

just thought I'd throw this out there, you're an inspiration. The first time I read Looking For Alaska, I cried for like an hour. And then to see that you're so like.. Funny just makes it that much better. Never stop writing.
