The Ruins

I have three important pieces of news:

1. I have pink eye, which has slightly increased Suck Levels.

2. My flight to New York on Friday was cancelled, and now I'm stuck in Detroit until Monday morning. This might sound like bad news, but it is in fact pretty good news, because:

3. For very complicated reasons that frankly you will not believe even if I tell you the honest-to-God truth, I spent today breaking into abandoned buildings in downtown Detroit with a 17-year-old freelance photographer and National Book Award-winner (and Printz Honoree) M. T. Anderson. Video evidence (because I wouldn't believe me either) to come.

1. Pink eye! That sucks!! I remember the first time I got pink eye...I was never more freaked out. Since your eyes get all gunky and stuff, they like...get glued shut. I woke up in the morning freaking out because I couldn't open my eyes. (Granted, I was like 10, but still)

2. Video evidence...awesome! I can't wait to see your next B2.0 vid.

I hope you get better soon, and I'll be waiting intently on Monday.

I had pink eye once, WAY back in the day. Just like Dawn said, my eye was glued shut and I also flipped out. Woke up in the morning with crusty junk all over my eye. Ick! It certiantly does increase suck levels.

M.T. Anderson! Awesome! I LOVED Octavian Nothing. I can't wait to see the video proof!

Ack! If you need some place to watch the NCAA games and want to get out of Detroit for a bit - you visit me in Fowlerville - a hour to the west and worlds away from Detroit. I even have Peeps!! My high school students would never believe me!

oh man... i'm glad to hear you came back alive, because after hearing M.T. Anderson's story it gave me a terrible urge to go hang out in abandoned buildings. But, this severe fear for my own saftey in the dear city of Detroit (spurred by an awkward night walking around the city in the dark in a miniskirt, waiting for a concert) has left me only searching for internet pics.

So your alive-hood makes me feel better about possible future urban explorations..... aaaaaaand i also get to see the vid here :-)

Wow, #3 sounds like so much fun. All I've really been doing is writing and playing frisbee. Nothing as exciting as #3.
