An Abundance of Katherines Looking for Alaska Paper Towns anagrams famous last words Bio and Contact

The Mothership

REMINDER: If you live in or near Birmingham, you should come to my signing on Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) at 1PM at Little Professor Books in Homewood. It will be fun.

Okay, so for the past four and a half days I've been at the NCTE conference here in Nashville, Tennessee (I leave this afternoon), and the conference is being held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, which is this massive enclosed space with 60-foot fake Christmas trees and a fake river on which you can (and I have!) take fake boat cruises, and a gigantic glass roof a la Biosphere 2.

Anyway, I have been here for about 110 hours so far. And here's the thing: I have not once, even for a second, left the Mothership. I was tempted a couple days ago to go into the hot tub, which is located about sixteen inches outside the walls of the resort, but I held fast. The full story, with pictures stolen from other writers, soon.

Nice! I was at that place last summer, and I thought it was the awesomest thing ever. And I don't even care about country music! I would live there, were it possible.

Your post reminds me that I recently had a dream where I was in the giant Biodome, near the entrance where they sell fudge. The fudge is also awesome. Presumably that's what the dream was about.

Try to make it to the Opry itself though -- not for the Opry, mind you, but for the underwater seafood restaurant and multi-themed bowling alley, where you can finally learn sate your curiosity of what it was like to bowl in ancient Rome.

Congrats on being on this list of Hot Teen Authors... for what it's worth, considering it's a new blog (for librarians who work with teens) that may not have many readers as yet. Still, I know you love librarians!

That place sounds pretty awesome. More awesome than any place I've ever been, but I have never been to Disney World..that could have something to do with it. Looking forward to Friday, but you chose Black Friday, which is cool I guess, but traffic will be horrible.

NCTE? National Council of Teachers of English? You were there? Last year one of my professors scored me an amazing poster from there. I'll live in her and NCTE's debt forever because of it. And also because I'll be an English teacher as of May, so I'll literally be living in debt because of NCTE.

It was great to hear you at ALAN. And lest you think you got a standing ovation because our butts were sore from sitting too long, yours was actually the first of only 2 standing ovations. Thanks for your humor, intelligence and willingness to use the F-word.

NY Times Children's Book review just included the YA novel: DUMPED AGAIN. The synospis is, after getting dumped for the 19th time, a boy goes on a road-trip.
Thought it sounded mighty familiar---

It was great to hear your speech at Alan! I was wondering if you would post the text of it on your website so I can pass it on to those unfortunates who were unable to attend.
