Tour Dates and Locations for Paper Towns

In which I announce some tour dates.

A map of the tour.

And if you live in or near Columbus: On Sept. 8th I'll be at the Worthington Northwest Library. 2280 Hard Road in Columbus.

  1. Good morning John!
I'll be at the L.A. event and possibly the San Francisco event with nerdfighter friends.

Also: Although I'm certain that Paper Towns the book will be a wonderful read which I will enjoy thoroughly, I have to be honest and say that I don't really care for either cover design. That's just my graphic designer's prerogative, I guess. That said, when I go to buy my own copy I will probably pick up the happy Margo version.

  2. I would love if you told us where you're going to be. By that, I of course mean the library/venue you're going to be at so that I can immediately buy tickets for said venue [in Phoenix].
I'd like to let you know that I'm positively freaking out.

  3. Look at that big empty space in the Intermountain West. Sad.

  4. Charlottesville! Yay!

  5. Hi John!
I am definitely coming to the one in Chicago, and possibly the suburbs. HOPEFULLY, I can find a way to get to Louisville (I'll be going to school in Chicago without a car) because I'm from there, and I can tell you about Louisvilletacular things! I'm actually there/here now! Yay, Louisville!
    Looking forward to it
    Morgan

  6. Seriously... no Denver? I mean, we were just, like a week ago, the location of one of the most important events of the year, drawing in thousands of spectators and citizens and we still don't merit a stop on the tour?

    Not cool.

  7. I'm with bravelittletoaster you should make it to Denver. Maybe with your next book tour you can hit the Mile High city.

I'd go with the yellow, just because I prefer yellow to blue, however I will see what they send me.

  9. What time on Monday!?!

    I'm so excited!

    HOO HAH!

  10. Am I crazy, or did the ARC's have both images on them? I remember as I was reading it looking at the sad Margo, then the happy Margo, and having both images to ponder added to the story. But maybe I'm wrong. I could be wrong. The other teen librarian made me give the ARC back to her so I can't confirm for myself.....
Oh, and NOBODY can get enough of COLUMBUS! Myself included. Can't wait!!

  11. Oh man, I can't believe you are coming to Phoenix now that I live in Tucson. Such a shame. Hopefully i can still make it.

  12. Blue Margo.

Probably you should come tour New Zealand where basically no one knows who you are ... that's kinda fun, right?

  13. There seems to be a really huge blank spot in the middle of that map... and we're right in the middle of it! :(

(Oh, and I just noticed someone else thinks the same thing... so now I know I'm not the only fan here in the middle of that blank spot!)

  14. I wish I could attend but the closest you are coming to where I live is Boston and there is no way I can drive to Boston on a Friday.

I am not particularly fond of either cover but Happy Margo is definitely better. The best cover thus far in my opinion was that of Looking For Alaska.

  15. Hey, I liked your queen Isabella joke! It was so... jokes. I want to go to the Boston stop, not sure I can.

    And definitely happy Margo.

  16. Erk, Westport CT is too far away. Le sigh.

But--yellow/happy Margo(or is it Margaux--I bet you told us somewhere and I forgot, and maybe its Margot, because I know one of those, too. [She's French.])is the one for me. Too many sad/downer book jackets out there. I like the air of happy mystery.

  17. I will be at Indy and Greenwood ones, most likely! Any idea where the Greenwood one will be! If it's at this one Border's in Greenwood that would be SOOOOOO cool, because it would be the same as the first place I ever saw your book. At that time I didn't care because I was waiting to meet Emerson Spartz, but about a month later I figured out who you were! I'm excited!

  18. John, John, John. You will have to take a spot as number two favorite YA author of all time, or maybe even number three (behind Pullman and Gaiman), until I get over your not coming to my little Vancouver, WA. And to all the other libraries NOT interested enough in our area, I shake my fist at you.

  19. I like the blue one more I think, but I am definately buying two copies. And also I know you said that everything would be in the evening after school, but that really doesn't help if you go to boarding school, which I do. But I will do my very very very best to show up to one of these events, even if I have to climb out a window and borow a day students car and probably get expelled. I'm really hoping it won't come to that.

    ReplyDelete
  20. what venues will these events (particularly Phoenix) be held at?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I don't know how I missed the Sarah Palin vlog, but it was AWESOME.

Especially the part where you crack up about the racing snowmobiles. When she announced that during her speech w/ such pride I was like waaaah?

Looks like we're in for a real treat.

Oh, both covers fit the story. It's cool you have two.

  22. This is so unrelated to the post, but John, HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?

  23. John, why does St. Louis not have a *subtitle* on the map? St. Louis is the birthplace of T.S. Eliot! And toasted ravioli! (though some may dispute this claim)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Okay. Soooo happy you added the Plano date. I literally, audibly, squealed.
As for the covers, I'm inclined to say the blue one because I am an intrinsically melancholy person, sad as that is. But I really am witholding all final judgements until I have read the book and decide for myself which best reflects the material.

  25. AMES! Where at? I must admit I was thrilled to hear the tour is coming to Iowa...Surprised, yet thrilled...Clearly I have yet to meet all the awesome that Iowa has to offer. *insert screaming fan girl voice*

  26. Yellow Margo.

  27. I love you so much for all of the Columbus-lovin'. I can't get me enough Columbus either, which is why I'm going to The Ohio State University and will definitely be attending on Oct. 20!!!! :)

And I like happy Margot. I'm sorry if I spelled that wrong, but I'm too lazy to check.

    ReplyDelete
  28. John! Why do you dislike English nerdfighters. That is very un-jokes and totally empty of awesome.
Plus, Paper Towns is being released on my boyfriend's birthday, who just happens to be an English language and literature student so you have to come here. Please. I'll pay for an airfare.

  29. i'll be at the Pittsburgh event..so excited..and i'll probably end up driving 3.5 hours to the Cleveland event, too. but don't worry, i'll offset my carbon emissions.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey, did you know there was a town in between Seattle and San Francisco? It's called Portland and it's pretty cool. Even though I'm probably too old to be a nerdfighter,I think you should check it out one day because, well, you know...I would come and I bet that Vancouver, WA poster would be there too.

    Yellow.

  31. So I posted on Eventful about Newport News, and I saw VA beach on the map. Then in the video you say it's N.N.

Where in newport news? Must buy tickets. Get day off from work. Bath in melted peeps.

  32. i didn't realize blue margo was sad; i thought she was crafty.

i'm not coming to any of your tour dates because your tour's not hitting the fantastic northern neighbour, canada.

    ReplyDelete
  33. *sigh* Boston is just too far. There is this completely made of awesome place called Manchester New Hamphire, you should come here sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I like Blue Margo. She's moody and poetic. And guess what? I am going to try my damnedest to make it to the 10/16 party. Where is it, anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  35. More details about the NYC event please!! I have class in the morning so please tell me you will be there after 12!

    ReplyDelete
  36. John, I'd love to attend the Paper Towns tour stop in Chicago, but where are you holding it? In which bookstore did you write most of PT?

  38. You're going to Plano, TX and not AUSTIN? .... wtf?

    ReplyDelete
  39. John, I'll come see you in Pittsburgh if you can confirm the location at some point. I suggest hosting it in Oakland/Squirrel Hill/Southside, near the major universities. I'd be happy to put up some posters at Pitt and Carnegie Mellon to increase your visibility. Also, I have a gift for you, so I look forward to meeting you.

  41. ahhhhhh I have rehearsal on the day you're in Phoenix! and I live in Tucson so it takes two hours to get to Phoenix and since the play that I'm stage manager for is double cast I probably won't get out of rehearsal until ten at night.
    I'm very sad.

and I like the yellow cover! a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  42. When will you be announcing the libraries and times the events will be?

Arrghh. The 2 days you AND hank pick to be near me are the first 2 days of play rehearsal that i CANT miss. oh john why must you do this?

on the plus side, I will most likely be at the Indy event. Hopefully.

    ReplyDelete
  43. No Washington, DC or Maryland?? :( The closest one to me is about 3 hours away... I'll cross my fingers in hopes that I can make it to Charlottesville or Lancaster.

    I prefer Yellow Margo.

    ReplyDelete
