BEDA

The major American novelist Maureen Johnson is blogging every day in April (BEDA) to gear up for the release of the paperback of her wonderfully funny book Suite Scarlett.

So I am going to blog for every day of April, too. Maureen has recently started a ning; my blogs will be cross-posted there.

My idea is that I will answer one question asked in comments every day. But in order for this to work, you must leave questions in comments.

Today's question comes from Kate, who asks, "Are you going to be participating in Blog Every Day April?"

Yes.

  1. My question is: Since you've discussed organizing your home library in a video, what do you think about organizing home libraries by color (or height) instead of by subject/author/title?

  2. I see a number of us are using the "questions from comments" tactic. Good jorb. Will be happy to see you blog daily, John. Mine will be on my LJ, and cross-posed to her ning. (sounds so dirty)

  10. I am also blogging every day in April.

While I am not quite as established in my writing as Mr. John Green (that's how I say that no one knows who I am while still shielding my ego), I think that you might enjoy some of the things that I write. So check it out (and that is how I use other, more famous people's blogs to shamelessly pimp myself)!

  16. Right now your books are focused on different adolescent experiences. Do you think that as you age and have time to reflect on your own experiences as a young adult, newlywed, etc you will write about those periods of life as well?

  17. trudeau1031 - I wish we were in a nerf fighting era, too! That sounds amazing. I have prepared for that day since I was 8.

My question: John, in honor of Hank's video from yesterday, what are some things that you like? (List form with annotations preferred. I like annotations.)

A question of great importance: How would you re-define "peeps" to reflect the importance of their standing within our own community of awesome?

  21. BEDA sounds like a great idea! It gives me something to look forward to everyday...there's been a void there since the brotherhood stopped there everyday posting.

I might have to participate in this.

  28. When did you first recognize your nerdiness? Who was more nerdy as a child, you or Hank?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sweet! I'm stoked on the everyday blog from you.
When you're writing, do your characters ever take on a life of their own, to the point that you feel like they're someone you know--a friend--and you are startled when you remember they are just words on a page? Do you ever feel compelled to write sequels to your books so you can find out what happened to certain characters later in their lives?

  30. You've made several (well, at least two) videos dedicated to answering questions specifically about Paper Towns. Would you ever do something like that for Looking For Alaska (or An Abundance of Katherines if anyone has questions about that...)?

I figure that you've dedicated so much to Paper Towns since, well, you didn't make videos during the time of Alaska or Katherines. But that doesn't mean that your readers/viewers/nerdfighters don't have any questions about them.
    (:

  36. John! When you come to Melbourne in May, will there be any possible way to meet you / be in your presence other than attending the Reading Matters seminar? I have school, and it is unlikely that I'll be able to go to the seminar. Meeting you is quite high up on my to-do list.

Completely random question, but I have been pondering this for a while:

Which would be more uncomfortable--intercourse with Edward Cullen or intercourse with Dr. Manhattan?

Yes, I know very random, and perhaps inappropriate, but like I said I've been pondering it myself since I went to see Watchmen.

I will be participating in BEDA. Happy Blogging.

  40. My mother (who I am grateful for) called me today and told me that she met you at a conference in Houston and she told you that "I thought all of your girl characters were hot." I was slightly embarrassed, not because it's not true but because I had wish she said that after reading Paper Towns, the book had a great impact on my life and artwork. Consequently, it has become one of my favorite books. I have started Urban Exploring and painting what I see to let other people inside the places they may be too afraid to go, or just don't notice.

My question is, did you do any UE while writing Paper Towns, and could you tell us about it?

  41. John, I've noticed that your guys tend to suffer from female worship. Are you one of the afflicted, too?

thank you, you have a lucky face.
