In which John affixes the Printz Honor onto Markus Zusak's "The Book Thief," starts to answer the survey questions, and discusses the "In Your Pants" phenomenon.
(Sorry it's late; I wanted to leave Hank's brilliant Jan. 23rd post up as long as possible.)
You started out this blog by saying that it is Thursday. I want to quickly point out that it is, in fact, WEDNESDAY. So you have a whole day you might not be giving yourself credit for before that deadline.
"In your pants" is truly the MSG of book titles. And people think we waste our time when we meet . . . how can that say that in the face of the "in your pants" discovery?
Excellent blog post. Sock puppet was particularly good at her lines.
My kids (ages 12 and nearly 14) are much taken with "in your pants." They laughed hardest at the idea of the Charlie Bone books in your pants, but even "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pant . . . in YOUR pants" cracked them up. So, a huge thanks to you and Hank for that one!
john green, i was kind of hoping you would do rising up and rising down in your pants, since it's right there over your shoulder. but i prefer (as well as believe) "everything that rises must converge in your pants." congratulations on the printz honor.

I'm just wondering if this "In Your Pants" game, although fun and quite addictive (The Enchanted Broccoli Forest in Your Pants, Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle in Your Pants, The Plot Thickens in Your Pants) might be added as potential "punishment" Rosary for failed blog post. That before or after punishment is performed, you/brother may have to recite ten genre specific "in your pants'" Hail Mary style? Just a non-solicited suggestion because as it goes in our culture, one's punishment should be someone else's entertainment (or vice versa, i.e. husband watching NETFLIXed LAND OF THE LOST episode in background).

Okay, so, in your pants...I'm looking for some good titles on my bookshelf (I think Le Petit Prince in your pants works nicely) and there's a really obvious one. Lolita in your pants.
That's probably not funny since that's my name. And that's what the book is about.
given that this is somewhat of a "thirty something" blog, i'd like to note that the sock puppet is very 1980s. The 21st century equivalent is the more post-modern, why-hide-it Oobi, just a regular hand with bug eyes. (yeah, i have little kids.)
nevertheless, a hand asking questions is still funny as is the "in your pants" game. and congrats on the printz award.
I'm starting to develop suspicions that you title your books with the "in your pants" phenomena in mind, because "An Abundance of Katharines in Your Pants" and "Looking for Alaska in Your Pants" are both too perfect.

I just got done reading Looking for Alaska about hmm.. 3 hours ago. It took me 3 days, one of the books I've ever read. By the way it sounds great with "in your pants"..Looking For Alaska in Your Pants.
That was hilarious. Well worth the wait.

The Book Thief is fantastic.
